History

The IAWTV Awards are hosted annually (with some exceptions) by the International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV), which was founded in 2008 and is devoted to the advancement of the arts and sciences of web television production.

Inception

In 2010, before the IAWTV Awards existed, the IAWTV hosted the 2nd annual

Streamy Awards The YouTube Streamy Awards, also known as the Streamy Awards or Streamys, are presented annually by Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter to recognize excellence in online video, including directing, acting, producing, and writing. The formal ...

. The poor reception of the event, and the surrounding controversy, resulted in a two-year hiatus for the Streamy Awards, and the subsequent creation of the IAWTV Awards. The two awards ceremonies are both still running, though as completely separate entities.

2011–present

Since its inception in 2011, the IAWTV has held award ceremonies annually (with the exception of 2016, 2019 and 2020), presenting awards to web series creators and talent in more than two dozen categories, covering multiple genres. Notable IAWTV winners include
